Star Wars is a science-fiction franchise that takes place in a galaxy far, far away. The saga is centered around the battle between the evil Sith, who wants to take over the galaxy, and the heroic Jedi who strive to maintain peace and justice.
The first movie, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, introduces us to Luke Skywalker, an orphaned farm boy who discovers that he is actually the son of a powerful Jedi Knight named Anakin Skywalker who eventually became Darth Vader, a Sith Lord serving under the evil Emperor Palpatine.
Luke, guided by Obi-Wan Kenobi, another Jedi Knight, begins to learn the ways of the Force, an energy field that connects all living things and gives the Jedi (and Sith) their powers. Along with allies Princess Leia, smuggler Han Solo, Wookiee Chewbacca, and droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, they battle the forces of the Galactic Empire.
